Everything you need to drive, earn, and get paid with takRide.

Getting started

To drive with takRide you'll need a valid driver's licence, a roadworthy vehicle, and your identity and vehicle documents ready for verification. Once you download the driver app and create an account, you'll be guided through submitting everything for review.

After your account is approved and you've added commission credit, flip yourself online from the home screen to start receiving trip requests near you.

Verification & documents

Verification keeps every rider and driver on takRide safe. You'll be asked to provide:

  • A clear photo of your valid driver's licence
  • Proof of identity (national ID or passport)
  • Your vehicle registration details
  • A profile photo so riders can recognise you

Reviews are usually completed within a few working days. You'll be notified in the app the moment you're approved.

Earnings & commission

You keep 89% of every fare. takRide charges a flat 11% commission — the same rate at every status tier, with no surge-based deductions.

Example: On a $10 trip, takRide's commission is $1.10 and you keep $8.90. On a $6 trip, commission is $0.66 and you keep $5.34.

When a rider uses a promotional discount, your fare is calculated on the discounted amount — you always see the exact figure you'll earn on the trip card before you accept.

Commission credit

Because you collect cash fares directly from riders, takRide's commission is drawn from a prepaid commission credit balance rather than asking you to hand cash back. Keep a little credit topped up and the platform's share is deducted automatically as you complete trips.

If your credit runs low, you'll get a reminder in the app. If it reaches zero, you'll temporarily stop receiving new trip requests until you top up — so it's worth keeping a small buffer.

You can top up your commission credit any time from the earnings section of the app.

Payouts

Cash trips are settled instantly — the rider pays you directly. For digital trips, your earnings are tallied into a daily total and snapshotted every night, then queued for payout to your preferred method.

You can always see your running daily earnings and payout history in the app. Each Sunday you'll also receive a weekly summary of your rides, earnings, and ratings.

Accepting trips

When a request comes in, you'll see the pickup, destination, distance, and exactly what you'll earn. You have a few seconds to accept before it passes to the next driver.

  • Back-to-back trips: if you're finishing a trip near a new pickup, takRide may offer it to you as your next trip so you spend less time driving empty.
  • Cancellations: if you must cancel after accepting, do it as early as possible. If a trip has already started, cancelling ends it for the rider.
  • Navigation: the app guides you from pickup through any stops to the final drop-off.

Status tiers

As you complete trips and keep your rating high, you progress through status tiers — Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Tiers recognise your experience and reliability. Your commission stays a flat 11% at every tier — higher tiers are about status and recognition, not a bigger cut.

Account & app

Manage your profile, vehicle details, documents, and payout preferences from the account section of the driver app. If you get a new phone, just log in again with your registered number — your history and earnings follow your account.
